Precision Jewelers Saw Blades are
for cutting metal and other hard
materials.
Jeweler’s saws are designed to cut
on the pull stroke because the
blades are extremely thin and
delicate. They lack the rigidity to
withstand force on a push stroke.
Cutting on the pull stroke keeps
the blade in constant tension,
which prevents it from buckling or
snapping easily.
The blades should be installed with
the teeth pointing toward the
handle. This ensures that when
you pull the saw toward yourself
(or downward toward the floor),
the teeth "bite" into the material.
Round back blades have a curved
spine that allows for greater
flexibility, tighter turns, and better
piercing.
General purpose blades are
typically used in gold, silver, and
other soft, non-ferrous materials.
Hard blades have been heat-
treated for use in platinum, steel,
and stainless steel.
