3The degree symbol is a small circle that is used when noting the value of a temperature in Fahrenheit or Celsius, etc.
For example, 98° F (for Fahrenheit) = 36.666° C (Celsius)
It is also used to represent the degrees of arc pertaining to a circle or an angle, with 360° being a full-circle, 90° a quarter-circle, 180° a half-circle, etc.
To type a degree symbol on your computer:
Windows – Hold down the ALT key, type 248, then release the ALT key
Mac – Hold down the OPTION key, sometimes marked ALT, and type a zero
