BUFFING WHEELS
Coarse, unbleached muslin buffing wheels are used to remove scratches and prepare your part for finer finishing. Muslin buffs are generally used to begin the buffing and polishing process for many materials. Tripoli may be a good polishing compound to start with, then work your way finer as required.
Do not mix polishing compounds on your buffing wheels or allow charged wheels to come in contact with each other. You may contaminate the wheel with coarser grit and sabotage your finishing operation. Use a different buffing wheel with each polishing compound, and hang the buffs on a peg-board when not in use.
Using a tapered spindle on your buffer allows you to quickly remove or replace these buffs during the buffing process.
For highest finishes use a fine polishing compound like white rouge and a cotton buffing wheel or a chamois buffing wheel.
