TWEEZERS
High quality precision Swiss made tweezers are essential when handling miniature and micro-miniature parts, and assemblies.
There are distinct differences in tweezer patterns and levels of quality. Point finish and the materials used to manufacture them make some tweezers more suitable for a particular job than others.
1. Dumont Tweezers and Peer Vigor Tweezers - Finest Quality - Our Best Tweezers
The only pointed tweezers recommended for work under a microscope.
Made in Switzerland
2. Dumont II Tweezers- Excellent Quality -
A little less finishing work than the Peer or Dumont Tweezers.
Made in Switzerland
3. Grobet - Good utility tweezers for beaders, craft-makers, hobbyists and those who don't require more costly, high precision tweezers. Fine for work under the low magnification of a magnifying lamp, etc.
How To Select Tweezers
Use the following as a general guide to help in making a proper tweezer selection. Additional details will be found with illustrations for each tweezer in our online catalog. When you are done reading this article look over to the list on the left of the page and scan down to “Tweezers” for full descriptions of each item available.
Bead Tweezers
Used to hold small, round parts. Like beads, or pearls. Beading tweezer tips are coated to protect the finish of delicate parts.
Bent Tweezers
Useful in soldering, or when choosing small parts from a tray. Also used for wire-wrapping, forming, bending and coiling.
Black Tweezers
Useful when handling diamonds or other light-colored stones.
Brass Tweezers
Soft, less likely to scratch delicate materials. Non-magnetic.
Ceramic Tweezers
Withstands the high temperatures required when soldering platinum
Craft Tweezers
Less costly than the high-precision Swiss tweezers. A good choice for hobbyists and bead-makers.
Cross Locking Tweezers
Also known as cross tweezers, or self-closing tweezers. Ideal for soldering operations or for holding small screws or parts. You squeeze the tweezers to make them let go of the part.
Curved Tweezers
Pattern 7 curved tweezers are excellent for holding miniature and micro-miniature parts. The shape allows the user to rest the hand on the bench during operations. The curved shanks have beveled edges, the points are plain, but sharp.
Cutting Tweezers
Cutting tweezers are used for cutting very fine and very soft wire. The cut is crisp and clean, especially on soft copper, gold, silver or magnetic wire. They may also be used for fine wire stripping.
Diamond Tweezers
Diamond tweezers have finely serrated jaws that grip and hold even the most delicate objects securely and without damage. As the name suggests, they are used for handling diamonds and other gem stones. These super quality Swiss made tweezers are available as stainless tweezers, carbon steel tweezers, nickel plated steel tweezers, titanium tweezers, and black tweezers in carbon steel and stainless, in an interesting variety and selection of point styles.
Handling Tweezers
Forged from only the very best grades of stainless steel and machined to nice, smooth finishes. Extensive hand finishing insures proper shape and alignment of the points, tips and shafts. Curved tweezers are ideal for many operations where small parts need to be precisely placed into position.
Hemostats
OK, these are not technically tweezers. Think of them more along the lines of scissor tweezers, tweezers with scissor shaped handles that can be used as a clamp, heat sink or third hand while soldering. The handles have a two-position locking device and are insulated with plastisol grips. The box joint construction prevents looseness or wobble in the serrated jaws. The serrations are not sharp and will not cut into softer materials.
Needle Tweezers
Pointed tweezers with very long, needle-like points.
Nose Pad Tweezers
Used for safely removing push-on style nose pads on eyeglasses without damaging the nose pad arm.
Pointed Tweezers
For general use in assembly, inspection, sorting and handling small and miniature parts. The Swiss tweezers are highly finished and a good choice when working under a microscope.
Retrieving Forceps
Blunt, rounded, serrated points, drop forged for extra durability. Ideal for use with ultrasonic cleaners or jewelry steam cleaners. Nickel-plated steel retrieving forceps are available with either straight or bent tips.
Screw-Holding Tweezers
Helpful when attempting to replace tiny screws in eyeglasses
Self-Closing Tweezers
Also known as cross tweezers, or cross locking tweezers. Ideal for soldering operations or for holding small screws or parts. You squeeze the tweezers to make them let go of the part.
Slide Locking Tweezers
The closing pressure is easily adjusted by moving the slide mechanism.
Soldering Tweezers
Heavier duty soldering tweezers are available in a variety of shapes, lengths and sizes of points. Solder tweezers come with or without serrations, for people who love choices.
Spring Grips
Used to hold parts from the inside. The spring grip legs expand to grip the part, secure the work, and prevent slippage. Often used for inspecting, lacquer application, or sandblasting.
Steam Cleaner Tweezers
Used by jewelers with ultrasonic cleaners and jewelry steam cleaners. The tweezer tips are plastic coated, providing protection for delicate parts and non-scratch parts retrieving. Usually made of nickel-plated steel.
Titanium Tweezers
Titanium tweezers are 40% lighter and 60% stronger than stainless steel watch tweezers. Resistant to high temperatures, titanium tweezers maintain their sharp tips without resharpening, and, because they are light, cause less hand fatigue.
Tongs
Copper tongs are suitable for use with pickling or acid solutions. Crucible tongs are used to handle crucibles, melting dishes, and other hot objects. Draw tongs have serrated jaws and are used for pulling wire. Flask tongs are used to handle small or large flasks when moving them to or from an oven.
