Gravers are small chisels used by
engravers, stone setters, die
sinkers, gunsmiths, jewelers, and
watchmakers.
Grobet Yellow Tang Gravers are
made of High Speed Steel for long
life, and must be sharpened before
using.
Onglette gravers, also
known as point gravers, have a
cutting face with gently curved
sides that reach a fine edge. The
graver can be used for stone-
setting, fittings, fonts, shading,
and borders.
The Flat Graver is flat.
They are one of the most versatile
engraving forms often used for
colorful cutting, background
removal, lighting effects, script
markings, flare cutting, and
decorative borders.
The Knife graver looks
like a knife blade, cutting sharply
on straight sides. They are ideal
for deep and fine engraving.
The Round graver is the
easiest to control and engraved
with sharp points, right sides, and
round tips. They are useful for
removing backgrounds, elevating
stone settings, lettering blocks,
and smooth line engraving.
Most of all the scroll work in
engraving can be done with the
following tools'. Onglette / Point
Graver No. 4 will cut most scrolls.
Fine detail is cut with 0 Point. Knife
No. 2 is also for detail. Flat Nos.
36 and 37, and Round Nos. 50 and
54 are needed for lettering on high
relief.
