Cratex Rubberized abrasives for light deburring, smoothing and polishing. Made from a special formula, combining pure silicon carbide granules with a special oil-resistant rubber bond.
Cratex delivers cushion-action performance in a variety of applications on a wide range of materials such as metal, plastic, glass and porcelain. Cratex abrasives can be shaped with conventional wheel dressers and does not harden or soften during use or storage.
Cratex rubberized abrasive points are made in four standard grit textures or compositions which differ in accordance with the mesh size of the silicon carbide abrasive grain used: Coarse (Green), Medium (Dark Brown), Fine (Reddish Brown), and Extra Fine (Grey Green).
Cratex points are made in cone, cylinder and bullet shapes. They are great for smoothing and polishing hard to reach surfaces, grooves, ball corners, holes, clasps, spirals, flutes, and edges.
Cratex is widely used for polishing molds, dies, patterns and light castings; for cleaning contact points, solder spots and for relieving stress, micro-deburring, and damaskeening.
The maximum safe speed depends on length the shank extends from your grinder, and is marked on the package. Best results are usually obtained at 30% to 80% of that speed, with a light work pressure.
