Liver of Sulfur Gel

Grobet Liver of Sulphur XL Gel is formulated for versatility, convenience, and extended shelf life that is many times that of the dry liver of sulfur product.

XL Gel is used to patina metals such as silver, copper, some bronze, brass, metal leaf, and metal clay alloys.

XL Gel is non-flammable

The squeeze bottle is designed for easy dispensing.

Work in a well-ventilated area

Shake XL Gel before use for consistent results. Then, in a clean, disposable plastic cup, mix 1 teaspoon of XL Gel with 12oz of hot water (140°F/60°C) for darkest patina, or a little less XL gel for a lighter patina.

Stir thoroughly. Apply with a paint brush, clean rag, or fine-mist sprayer.

For best results use solution immediately

Fully coat each piece of metal with the solution. The water temperature and strength of solution determines the speed of oxidation.

Next, in a clean disposable cup, mix 1 tablespoon of baking soda with 1 cup of water to create a neutralizing bath. Stir, then place the metal item in the neutralizing bath. Let soak for a couple of minutes, then remove and set aside to dry on a clean paper towel.
