White Diamond is a polishing compound that is made of tin oxide abrasive particles that are suspended in a wax binder. It polishes fast and provides a fairly high shine. Contrary to popular belief, White Diamond is not made of diamond dust.

It is often categorized as a type of Tripoli because of the cutting action of the abrasives. White Diamond is finer than Tripoli but coarser than white rouge.

There are two classifications of White Diamond compounds:

White Diamond XXX compound is a dry polishing compound with an abrasive cutting action. It is used on aluminum, brass, bronze, copper, gold, nickel, silver and other soft metals. It may also be used on plastics.

White Diamond XXXX compound has finer abrasives than XXX, for better color, less cutting and less scratching. It is often used on gold, silver, platinum, bone and ivory. It avoids getting the green tints that sometimes occur when using aluminum-oxide based polishing compounds.

Use yellow buffs for quick cutting action, or with loose muslin buffs for a high finish, with White Diamond compound.
